clockhelp menuYour browser: Netscape 5 (KHTML) This page helps you create sigs (signature files) for use with email and newsgroup posts. The sig is shown at the top of the page, before the first horizontal line. Then there are two URLs which can be used to retrieve this sig. Then these is a form that lest to create your own sig.
At the top of the form, you are asked to specify "EOL type". This is because different computers use different methods to indicate end of line. Choose "Web" if you want the sig to look right on the page. Choose something else if you want to use this sig somewhere else.
Next, you choose if you want the standard sig seperator at the beginning of the sig. This can be used by programs to skip including the sig in quoted text.
Then you can specify the desired width (to wrap lines at). The acceptable range is 10 to 200, with 72 as the default. Enter 0 to disable line wrap.
Now you can enter up to 20 lines to create your sig. Some characters have special meaning, but only at the beginning of the line:
~[num] ;include numbered countdown (default for num is 0)
~~[num] ;as above but always shows
~string ;include countdown found by searching event database
~~string ;as above but always shows
$ ;include quotation (max 200 characters)
$$ ;include quotation from full list (can be long)
. ;smart blank (blank line only if preceding line not blank)
/ ;escape (include rest of line as is)
